Frequently Asked Questions

What is a security guard?

A security guard protects people, property and premises through visible presence, access control, patrols and incident response. Their role is to deter, detect and report issues so businesses remain safe and operational. See also our manned guarding services.

Why is security guarding important?

A professional guarding presence significantly reduces risk of intrusion, theft and antisocial behaviour, and provides rapid on-site response out of hours. It complements CCTV, alarms and physical security to protect people, assets and brand reputation.

What duties do guards carry out?

Typical duties include front-of-house and reception cover, access control and visitor management, perimeter and floor patrols, incident escalation, logging and reporting, liaising with emergency services, and safeguarding people during events or high footfall periods.

What can security guards legally do?

Guards do not have police powers. They can refuse entry to premises, request searches with consent, and perform a citizen’s arrest when legally justified (e.g. to prevent harm, protect property or stop a suspect fleeing) until police arrive. They cannot carry weapons unless appropriately licensed.

Do you provide SIA-licensed personnel?

Yes. All deployed officers hold valid SIA licences and are screened and vetted. We verify identity, right to work and employment history in line with industry standards before assignment.

How much does it cost to hire a guard?

Pricing varies by location, hours, risk profile and duties. We tailor quotes to your site and shift pattern, from ad hoc cover to long-term contracts. Request a quote for a fast, no-obligation proposal.

What areas do you cover?

We operate nationwide across the UK with locally based teams in major cities and surrounding regions, supporting both scheduled and short-notice deployments.

Can I book short-notice or temporary cover?

Yes. Our scheduling team supports short-notice shifts and project-based assignments. We can also scale resources to meet seasonal peaks or special events.

How do you evidence activity and reporting?

We maintain digital occurrence logs, complete incident and accident reports, and provide KPI summaries to agreed schedules. Site-specific instructions (SSIs) are embedded into our briefing and handover processes.
